Pre-Civics training program 2015-2016

Invitation to pre-Civics training program

Dear parents of girls and boys born in 2004,2005, and 2006!

The Sault Youth Soccer Club invites your child to participate in the pre-Civics winter training program 2015-2016. The program objective is to train all players who wish to improve their basic physical literacy, develop strong skill foundation, and have fun.

Key features of the program:

The program is non for profit and is open to all players born in 2004,2005,2006 and registered with the Sault Youth Soccer Club. There is no selection process to participate in the program: every child deserves the opportunity to develop as a soccer player!

Financial commitment from the parents will be required to cover the cost of renting field time at the Northern Community Centre during winter sessions.  Cost is based on number of participants.

Program training sessions will be held every Saturday afternoon at the NCC.  Winter schedule is posted below.   Training sessions will be conducted by qualified coaches with solid playing background and experience with coaching competitive youth soccer teams.

There is no cost to participate in training during the summer: join the program and enjoy the opportunity to improve as a player!

Players involved in training will have the opportunity to participate in soccer tournaments and exhibition games within Northern Michigan.  Participation in the tournament will be based solely on commitment to training, attendance record, and work ethic, not on raw athletic ability!

Come out and join the program. Please do not hold your child back from becoming a better soccer player! With proper attitude and training the sky is the limit!

About the program

The pre-Civics training program is aligned with the Long Term Player Development model introduced by the Ontario Soccer Association and its main focus is on developing skills to let your child enjoy the game of soccer for years to come whether she (he) chooses to play for competitive or recreational teams.

The program is in third year; it was introduced in the summer of 2013 and was hugely successful. Since then, over 200 girls and boys participated in training sessions run throughout the year. Teams formed from pre-Civics participants made 14 tournament appearances giving the players the opportunity to taste a tournament atmosphere and gain competitive experience. All teams performed very well, and kids and parents had a blast!

For more information about the program please contact General Manager of the Civics Program Carmine Coccimiglio at 705-253-9995 or carmine.coccimiglio@shaw.ca.
